Based on data from 1998 to present, the methodology to determine the relative abundance for each
species was to divide the total number of sightings for a species during a specific season (numerator) by
the total number of documented outings for that season (denominator). The number determined after
this division was then compared to a percentage scale created to produce a final answer for the species’
population status.
The scale is defined as the following:
0-25%=rare 26-59%=uncommon 60-85%=common 86-100%=abundant
This list was compiled by Jordan Rutter with the help of many. Special thanks go to: Ranger Kate Bucco,
Gail McKiernan, John Beetham, Michael Bowen, Pete Marra, as well as Pam & Keith Rutter.
