Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens provides a unique habitat for wildlife, as it combines the ecosystems of the aquatic gardens, tidal marshes, wooded areas, and the Anacostia River in one site. You may see deer, raccoons, and geese in the park, but the area also plays host to beavers, turtles, frogs, river otters, and Great Blue herons, among other things.
Please keep in mind that the wildlife in the park is wild. Do not approach any animals you might see. They have learned to avoid people as a way to survive, so do not approach, but keep your eyes open for animals at a distance.
