Frontcountry (Drive-To) Campsites

Drive-to Campsites:

  • Sandbank Stream Campground
  • Lunksoos Campground (short walk from parking to campsites)
  • Upper East Branch Campsite (short walk from parking to campsite)
Frontcountry (drive to) campsites at Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument are accessible via unpaved roads. Campers must provide their own water and pack out all trash. No services are available at these campsites. Please follow Leave No Trace principles during your visit. Camping in non-designated sites is not permitted at this time. Campsites are not maintained during the winter.

Dogs are permitted at campsites on a leash of 6 feet or less, but are not permitted in the shelters or huts. Please read about how to experience this park with your pet.

Reservations for campsites can be made for stays between Memorial Day weekend through mid-October on Recreation.gov.
