Every year, people from all over the world contribute their enthusiasm and skills to help the preserve and protect America’s national parks. Volunteers can help in almost every area, from maintaining trails to leading guided hikes. Volunteer positions for Alagnak, Aniakchak and Katmai are somewhat limited due to lack of housing, particularly at Brooks Camp. Most positions begin in May and last until August and September. Positions are typically filled by March for the upcoming summer season. For a complete list of volunteer opportunities with the National Park Service including those at Alagnak, Aniakchak, and Katmai, please visit www.nps.gov/getinvolved/volunteer.htm or www.volunteer.gov/. Many volunteers also work through the Student Conservation Association (SCA). Non U.S. residents can find volunteer opportunities through the International Volunteers in Parks Program.
