 Winter Visitor Services Hours Begin November 2016 at John Day Fossil Beds National Monument

 KIMBERLY, OREGON:The Thomas Condon Paleontology Center in the Sheep Rock Unit of John Day Fossil Beds will be open 10am-5pm seven days per week throughout the winter, excluding the following holidays:

Veteran’s Day (Friday November 11, 2016)
Thanksgiving (Thursday November 24, 2016)
Christmas Day (Sunday December 25, 2016)
Christmas Day Federal Holiday (Monday December 26, 2016)
New Year’s Day (Sunday January 1, 2017)
New Year’s Day Federal Holiday (Monday January 2, 2017)
Martin Luther King Jr Day, Observed (Monday January 16, 2017)
President’s Day (Monday February 20, 2017)

 Trails, picnic areas, and viewpoints in all three units of the monument will remain open every day, including holidays. The Cant Ranch will not be open this winter. Superintendent Shelley Hall says, “Winter is a wonderful time to visit John Day Fossil Beds to experience the beauty of the changing seasons and the cooler weather. Please watch for wildlife and ice while driving in John Day Fossil Beds and the surrounding areas.”
