Courtesy of the Missouri Historical Society (Identifier: N12413) Albert Preston Greensfelder was a civil engineer and namesake of Greensfelder Park in St. Louis County. He was a passionate advocate for the improvement of the St. Louis region, and at the time of his 1955 death was the chairman of the St. Louis County Park Board, the County Park and Recreation Advisory Committee, and member of the board of trustees for Creve Coeur Memorial Park. Greensfelder Shelter at Creve Coeur Park also bears his name. While all books in this collection may be viewed in the Park's Reading Room, they cannot be lended to researchers or National Park Service employees. The collection contains 174 books, most of which were published in the first half of the twentieth century. Ephemera found inside of these books, as well as Mr. Greensfelder's personal papers, are also collected in the Gateway Arch National Park Archives.
