Early Summer Ranger Programs at the Portage Lake District Library
In June and July, join an Isle Royale or Keweenaw park ranger for programs celebrating our local national parks. Programs are geared for families and youth ages 5 to 12. Programs are held on Tuesdays at 1 pm and average 45 minutes.

Become an Isle Royale Teen Artist
Isle Royale National Park (NP) is now accepting applications for the summer 2017 Isle Royale Teen Artist Exploration. The artistic discovery is geared to all aspiring teen artists who want to develop their art through experiencing wilderness, and is open to all visual and performing artists, writers, and composers ages 13 to 18 at time of participation.

Public Invited to February Open Houses about the Presence of Wolves
The National Park Service (NPS) invites the public to participate in upcoming informational open houses and webinars regarding the proposed draft plan determining whether and how to bring wolves to Isle Royale National Park. The plan and alternatives are described in the draft Environmental Impact Statement to Address the Presence of Wolves on Isle Royale (draft EIS), released on December 16, 2016, and can be found here: https://parkplanning.nps.gov/isrowolves

National Park Service Seeks Public Comment on a Draft Environmental Impact Statement to Address the Introduction of Wolves to Isle Royale
Isle Royale National Park (ISRO) released for public review and comment the draft Environmental Impact Statement to Address the Presence of Wolves. (draft EIS). The wolf population has declined to just two wolves in the past five years and scientists believe that natural recovery of the population is unlikely.

Summer 2017 Artist-In-Residence Program Call for Entries
Applications for Isle Royale National Park's 2017 Artist-in-Residence Program will be accepted between January 2 and February 16, 2017. This program provides artists the opportunity to become part of a long-established tradition of interpreting national parks through art.

Fee Changes for the 2017 Season at Isle Royale National Park
Isle Royale National Park will move forward for the 2017 season with a new entrance fee to replace its existing user fee. The new rates will take effect January 1, 2017 for visitors planning a trip any time after the park opens April 16, 2017.

Proposed Fee Changes at Isle Royale National Park
In 2015 Isle Royale began the process of updating its fee program to comply with federal regulations, allow acceptance of all Federal Recreation Passes, and study changing the user fee to an entrance fee.
