Houghton, MI – Throughout the summer, join a park ranger for stories and programs focused on the wonders and wildlife of Isle Royale. Programs range from 30 to 60 minutes for families and kids.

Calumet Programs at the Calumet Public Library

·Wednesday, July 27, 6:30 pm, Park Explorers: Ranger Val will take kids and their families on an imaginary journey to visit parks across the country. Learn how park rangers help protect our national parks, and then become an official Centennial Junior Ranger.

Houghton Programs at the Portage Lake District Library

·Tuesday July 19th, 1 pm, What IS a National Park? Not all parks are national parks. What makes them special? Join Ranger Lori to unlock the mystery and significance of the Arrowhead, symbol of the National Park Service, then construct a safe and fun campsite.

·Saturday, July 23, 10:15 am, At the Pond Storytime: Swim into stories and songs from the ponds and lakes of Isle Royale with Ranger Val.

·Thursday, July 28, 6:30 pm, Park Explorers: Ranger Val will take kids and their families on an imaginary journey to visit parks across the country. Learn how park rangers help protect our national parks, and then become an official Centennial Junior Ranger.

·Saturday, July 30:10:15 amRanger Buddy Storytime: Join Ranger Val to celebrate the National Park Service's 100 birthday with stories and songs from your national parks.

·Tuesday August 2, 1 pm: Loons! Loons are full of loony facts. Join Ranger Lori to learn how you can protect these prehistoric waterfowl. Do you have the loony courage to take the Loon Ranger pledge?
