About the Artists

Tom Rudd and Margo McCafferty were Isle Royale Artists-in-Residence from August 23rd to September 10th, 2005. After spending these three weeks on the island with their son, they decided to buy a house and move to Calumet, Michigan.

Tom was a sculptor but also a painter, printmaker, teacher, activist, public art administrator, curator, promoter, art collector, fly-fisherman and mentor. He grew up in northwestern Pennsylvania and had a few short-lived careers before deciding to follow his true calling in 1970. Tom passed away in 2018.

Margo is a painter and native of the Pacific Northwest. Before finding her true calling, she received a degree in political science from Willamette University, Salem, Oregon. Her drawings, prints and paintings are exhibited and collected internationally.

Together they created a series of color reduction relief prints of environments and events in places where they have lived or completed residencies. You can see more of Tom and Margo's prints in our Prints & Woodcuts Gallery.
