Philadelphia On Friday, June 14, at noon, four members of the Spirit of Liberty Sky Diving Team will sky dive onto Independence Mall, across from Independence Hall.

Who:Spirit of Liberty Sky Diving Team, led by former US Army Ranger and Green Beret Gene Newsom

What:Four members of the Sky Diving Team, each carrying U.S. Flags, will sky dive onto Independence Mall, across from Independence Hall

Where: Independence Mall (Liberty Bell Block)

When:Friday, June 14, noon

Independence National Historical Park is joining with the City of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Flag Day Association, the National Constitution Center, the U.S. Army, the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, and others, to celebrate June 14 -- Flag Day and the birthday of the U.S. Army.Following the program in front of Independence Hall (at about 11:40 am), George Washington and Benjamin Franklin will lead the audience in ringing the Freedom Bell (made from metal from the World Trade Center and honoring our past, present and future armed forces), then invite the audience to turn their eyes skyward.

Editor's note:Media are invited to cover this first-ever sky dive onto Independence Mall. Media are welcome to set up on the south end of Block 1 on Independence Mall (Liberty Bell Block). Note that the procession from the National Constitution Center will pass through Independence Mall at 10:20am. For information on staging satellite trucks, please contact the park at 215-597-0060.
