Independence, Missouri – Harry S Truman National Historic Site, with units in Independence and Grandview, Missouri, announces that the park will be transitioning to a five-day operation for park facilities and begin to offer some visitor services. Effective immediately, the park will be operating from Wednesdays to Sundays. Park facilities will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Some outdoor public programming will resume on June 30, 2021 The intent of this change is to ensure the best possible service at the Truman Home in Independence, and to resume regularly scheduled visitor services at the Truman Farm in Grandview while following CDC guidance and considering local conditions.
Superintendent Carol Dage shares, “The park is grateful to the community for the overwhelming support during the past year, and we look forward to serving the community in the years to come. Even today, in 2021, we see that Harry S Truman is as relevant in our world as he was from 1945 to 1953. We are especially pleased to begin offering services at the Truman Farm this summer. To understand Truman, you need to understand his life on his family’s farm. We thank the community in Grandview for their patience and support. Park staff are looking forward to engaging with our wonderful visitors and seeing them again.”
All programs and services that the park offers are free, and all are welcome.
