Performance Artist Program Photography Workshop and Star and Lunar Eclipse Party at Homestead National Monument of America

Sunday September 27, 2015 will be a fun and busy day at Homestead National Monument of America! Come and join us for performance art, photography and a star party.

Events will start at 1:00 p.m.on Sunday, September 27, at the Education Center, with artist-in-residence Michael Cansfield presenting a program on his residency at Homestead National Monument of America. Michael is researching the stories of early homesteaders and writing a play based on homesteader's experiences. Michael will discuss his research and writing processes and share passages from homesteading stories uncovered during his research.

From 2:00 –4:00 p.m., also at the Education Center, you are welcome to join Eric Fowler, regional editor for NEBRASKAland magazine, for a photography workshop. Loaner cameras will be available for use following Fowler's presentation, courtesy Lincoln Camera Club. Pictures will be downloaded for visitors to take home with them.

The day will wrap up with a Star/Lunar Eclipse party from8 –11 p.m.at the parking lot of the Heritage Center. The Lincoln Prairie Astronomy Club will be there with telescopes to help view stars and a very special total eclipse of the moon! Bring your own chair, binoculars, and telescopes.   

"We are excited about having Michael, Eric and the Prairie Astronomy Club share their art, knowledge and passions with us," said Superintendent Mark Engler.
