Bathtub Dogs Showcased at Homesteads 80th Birthday

The high energy music of the Bathtub Dogs men's choir from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will headline the 80^th birthday celebration of Homestead National Monument of America, Saturday March 19, 2016, at 2 pm at the Homestead Education Center.

In 2002, two University of Nebraska students gathered a group of their most talented friends to sing together. Since then, their small group of singers has evolved into a thriving a cappella ensemble known as the "Bathtub Dogs." When they're not in class at UNL, the Dogs perform on campus and all across the state and region, most notably including an opening set for the Grammy Award–winning rock band, OKGo. The Dogs released their fifth studio album, BIG NEWS, in December 2014, and just held auditions for new members. Their goals as a performing ensemble are simple: To entertain and have fun.

"We are so excited to have this group of talented young men help celebrate Homestead National Monument of America's 80^th birthday," stated Superintendent Mark Engler.

There are many other activities taking place that day also. See extreme lego builders creating displays like the Nebraska State Capitol, steam engines, a railroad coaling station and many more. Come eat cakes built and decorated to look like the Freeman School and the Palmer-Epard Cabin!
