• Part of a roofline shows from one building. Trees with fall color leaves on them fill most of the photo. A lamp-post is near center of the photo.

Working with Contractors & Partners

This website is accessible only to computers on the National Park Service network. Contractors, vendors, and most partners do not have access to this website. This arrangement is due to restrictions on use of the arrowhead symbol and to licensing restrictions on use of the approved NPS typefaces. If you are working on a project with a contractor, vendor or partner, and need to provide them with copies of arrowhead artwork files or approved NPS typefaces, please follow these guidelines:

Arrowhead Artwork

Use of the NPS Arrowhead symbol is controlled by law, regulation, and policy. Electronic files of the symbol provided on this website are intended for internal agency use only, for plaques, gifts, awards, business cards, publications, signs, exhibits, conferences and special events, and similar official NPS uses. Other uses require prior approval by the Director. For a full explanation of permissible, conditional, and prohibited uses, see Special Directive 93-07, dated Nov. 3, 1995.

If you are working with a contractor, vendor or partner on an NPS project that requires use of the arrowhead, you may furnish digital files of arrowhead artwork via email attachment or via removable disk (cd-rom or dvd). Our arrowhead artwork files are compatible with both Windows-PC and MacOS computers.

NPS Typefaces

NPS Rawlinson OT and Adobe Frutiger Std are OpenType fonts. Each font file is compatible with both Windows-PC and MacOS computers.

NPS Rawlinson OT

You may furnish copies of the NPS Rawlinson typefaces via the same methods described above. However, please note that our license for NPS Rawlinson covers only work performed on NPS-related business. Your contractor, vendor or partner is not authorized to use NPS Rawlinson on non-NPS work.

Adobe Frutiger Std

Adobe Frutiger is licensed for NPS employees working on NPS computers only. You may not copy or share the Frutiger fonts with your contractors, vendors or partners, with the following single exception:

"You may take a copy of the font(s) you have used for a particular file to a commercial printer or service bureau, and such vendor may use the font(s) to process your file, provided such vendor already has a valid license to use that particular font software."

Under standard industry practice contractors, vendors or partners must purchase their own license to use Frutiger from Adobe.

To avoid problems with print vendors or GPO print contractors, make it clear in your printing contract that the vendor must have a license for Adobe Frutiger (either the PostScript Type 1 or OpenType version) in order to complete your job.
