36 CFR, Part 5 - Commercial and Private Operations

 

36 CFR § 5.1 - Advertisements

Conditions of Advertisements

Commercial notices or advertisements shall not be displayed, posted, or distributed on federally owned or controlled lands within a park area unless prior written permission has been given by the superintendent. Such permission may be granted only if the notice or advertisement is of goods, services, or facilities available within the park area and such notices and advertisements are found by the superintendent to be desirable and necessary for the convenience and guidance of the public.  

 

36 CFR § 5.3 - Business Operations

What's Prohibited

Engaging in or soliciting any business in park areas, except in accordance with the provisions of a permit, contract, or other written agreement with the United States, except as such may be specifically authorized under special regulations applicable to a park area, is prohibited.  

 

36 CFR § 5.7 - Construction of Buildings or Other Facilities

What's Prohibited

Constructing or attempting to construct a building, or other structure, boat dock, road, trail, path, or other way, telephone line, telegraph line, power line, or any other private or public utility, upon across, over, through, or under any park areas, except in accordance with the provisions of a valid permit, contract, or other written agreement with the United States, is prohibited. 

 

36 CFR, Part 6 – Solid Waste Disposal Sites in Units of the National Park System

 

36 CFR § 6.1 - Purpose

The regulations contained in this part prohibit the operation of any solid waste disposal site, except as specifically provided for, and govern the continued use of any existing solid waste disposal site within the boundaries of any unit of the National Park System.  

 

36 CFR § 6.4 - Solid Waste Disposal Sites Not in Operation on September 1, 1984.

36 CFR § 6.4(b) A person proposing to operate a solid waste disposal site that was not in operation on September 1, 1984, must submit a request for a permit to the Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument superintendent for review by the Regional Director demonstrating that the solid waste operation meets criteria in 36 CFR § 6.4(a).
