Homeschool Education Days 2020
The staff of George Washington Carver National Monument is pleased to announce the dates for homeschool education days in 2020. Homeschool days run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., are free of charge, and are for all ages unless otherwise noted. Registration is required.
The first program, Making a National Monument, is set for February 28. Students will use actual transcripts to reenact a 1921 House Ways and Means Committee hearing about a peanut tariff, with George Washington Carver as the expert witness. This is a fun introduction to using primary documents. Other activities include researching the museum and creating a brand-new exhibit! Students will also discuss and debate the reasons for the monument’s establishment during World War II. This program is for students AGES 10 YEARS OLD AND UP.
