Gulf Islands National Seashore spans 160 miles along the northern Gulf of Mexico and features dynamic and changing weather patterns throughout the year. Weather conditions can change unexpectedly and without warning. Be prepared by checking local weather reports and forecasts before traveling to the national seashore.
The weather in Florida and Mississippi is similar with a hot-season lasting for approximately four months, from mid-May through the end of September. Average daily high temperatures during this season exceed 84°F. Daily low temperatures during this season average 77°F.
Dynamic weather conditions are always possible throughout the national seashore. From afternoon thunderstorms, to tornados and major hurricanes, the gulf coast is subject to severe weather year-round. Visitors should be prepared for changing weather conditions and to seek shelter or evacuate park areas.
