National Park Service to close Gulf Islands National Seashore in Florida, Mississippi for Tropical Storm Isaias

News Release Date: October 7, 2026

GULF BREEZE, Fla. — As a result of a National Weather Service advisory, and in accordance with the Severe Weather Emergency Action Plan, the National Park Service will close all areas of Gulf Islands National Seashore beginning today, October 7, in preparation for Tropical Storm Isaias.

The storm is expected to become a hurricane within the next 24 hours. For more information visit our park website and Facebook page.

Florida

- Fort Barrancas Area, Naval Live Oaks Area, Fort Pickens Management Area, Santa Rosa Management Area (Opal Beach), Perdido Key Management Area (Johnson Beach), Okaloosa Area and Crab Island.

Mississippi

- All the barrier islands including Ship Island and Davis Bayou Area.

Highway 399 east and west bound on Santa Rosa Island in Florida will close Friday, time to be determined.
