OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. -- Gulf Islands National Seashore, in partnership with the Federal Highway Administration, begins construction on Phase II of the Davis Bayou Bicycle and Pedestrian Path and road resurfacing project.Visitors may encounter minor traffic delays on Park Road, where flaggers will be assisting with safe traffic flow.
Phase II, when complete, will connect the already completed 5-foot multi-use path, which currently ends at Robert McGhee Road and Park Road, to the William M. Colmer Visitor Center. Additionally, it will include retaining walls and erosion control on both sides of the road.
Park facilities, including the Davis Bayou Campground and William M. Colmer Visitor Center, along with the Gulf Coast Research Lab and all residential homes, will remain accessible during construction.
