What is a Junior Ranger?
A junior ranger is someone who visits national park sites and participates in fun activities—often using an activity book—to explore and learn about a park’s natural, historical, and cultural features. Becoming a Junior Ranger is a great way for kids and families to learn and have fun at national parks like Gulf Islands National Seashore!
How do you become a Junior Ranger?
At Gulf Islands National Seashore, kids ages 6 and up can receive the Gulf Islands Junior Ranger Activity Book to explore, learn about, and have fun at their national park. Activity books are available at the following locations:
William M. Colmer Visitor Center
Fort Massachusetts Visitor Contact Station (seasonally)
Fort Pickens Visitor Center (temporarily closed)
Gulf Islands Park Store
Fort Barrancas Visitor Center (seasonally)
As a special thank you for your participation, we will award each kid a Gulf Islands Junior Ranger badge!
While Gulf Islands National Seashore appreciates its Junior Ranger enthusiasts, we are only able to sustain in-person Junior Ranger programming and are unable to accommodate requests for Junior Ranger materials to be mailed out for at-home and remote participation.
If you require an accommodation ahead of your visit to the park, please let us know. If you visited Gulf Islands National Seashore and participated in its Junior Ranger program but were unable to receive a badge during your visit, please let us know. You can e-mail us.
