Gulf Islands National Seashore is accepting Commercial Use Authorization (CUA) applications for an operator to install and maintain a self-dispensing ice machine at the Fort Pickens Campground Store.
The Fort Pickens campground store closed in late 2016, which removed the existing ice machine from this area. The Fort Pickens Campground is a 200-site campground that is often full from March to August. As there is not an ice machine in the Florida District of the Seashore, currently campers must travel roughly 30 minutes round trip for ice.
Overview of Service:
The Service is seeking a CUA operation to locate an ice machine along the far right exterior wall of the campground store. This area has access to water and power. The operator will be responsible for all aspects ice machine operation and service. The service requires an ice machine adequate for the demand, is in excellent or like new condition and is capable of accepting credit and debit card payments.
The operator will be managed under a Commercial Use Authorization (CUA). As this is a new CUA, it will be issued for one year. If the operation goes as expected, the Service intends to issue again in 2019 and would plan to issue a 2-year CUA at that time. However, with a CUA there is no renewal preference for the incumbent operator.
How to Apply:
Interested parties should complete the attached application. The completed application and listed additional documentation must be submitted to:
Gulf Islands National Seashore
Additionally, a CUA application fee of $100 is due at the time of application. This is payable on-line. Direction are provided as Attachment C in the application.
Choosing an Operator:
Due to the size limits of the area, only one operator is needed. If multiple applications for this service are received, the park will select the operator via lottery.
Applications are due no later than April 1, 2018
