Great Sand Dunes is Under Stage 1 Fire Restrictions

Campfires are allowed in steel fire rings in developed campsites at Piñon Flats Campground, in established steel barbecues in the picnic area, or in steel fire rings in primitive campsites along the 4WD Medano Pass Primitive Road. All fires must be put out cold before being left unattended. Grills, barbecues, and fires are not allowed outside of these areas. Gas camp stoves and other appliances are allowed.
 

PROHIBITED ACTIVITES

  • Within an Enclosed Vehicle

  • A Developed Recreation Site/Improved site

  • While Stopped in an Area at Least Three Teet in Diameter That is Barren of All Flammable Materials
