Join Great Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve and partners this summer for Family Archeology Days! Explore the San Luis Valley with professional archeologists and learn about our rich history. Visit real archeological sites and participate in hands on activities to immerse yourself in the Valley’s culture and learn how archeologists study and protect our history.

  • Dates in June and July to be determined.
  • All program participation is free! Certain locations (the Great Sand Dunes) may have an entrance fee.
  • Places to visit include the Great Sand Dunes, Penitente Canyon, Alamosa National Wildlife Refuge, and more! Your own transportation required – meeting places will vary.
  • Fun for most ages – while designed with families in mind, certain locations will have a minimum age requirement for safety reasons.
