New Beaverslide Haying Video featuring Grant-Kohrs Ranch to Air on RFDRFD TV will be airing a Beaverslide horse drawn haying video filmed at Grant-Kohrs Ranch NHS on February 29. The segment is a shortened version of the original filmed this last summer by Mike Kerson of Video Mike Productions. The production provides old-timers with a vivid portrait of the world they grew up in, and gives youngsters a glimpse of a world they can barely imagine. Kerson, whose filming specialty is the world of horses and mules, shows a keen eye for when to let the volunteer teamsters speak and when to let the actions of the teams speak for themselves. The jingle of harness, the rustle of hay being pulled aloft by the beaverslide haystacker and the timeless wisdom of the teamsters are all part of this production. There are also “cameos” by National Park Service staff, and local ranchers who share some of the historical and present-day significance of the ranch, which the U.S. Congress designated a national historic site to commemorate the frontier cattle industry. The airing is scheduled for February 29, at 12:00 noon MST and repeated at 10:00 pm. Subsequent times will be on the following Sunday and Monday. The full forty-five minute DVD is available to purchase at the ranch’s visitor center, through the Glacier Natural History Association.
