Grand Canyon, AZ. – Tim Jarrell, a 32 year veteran of the National Park Service, was recently named Chief of the Facilities Management Division at Grand Canyon National Park. In his new position, Mr. Jarrell will oversee the division which is responsible for all National Park Service roads, buildings, trails, utility systems and campgrounds within the park.
Jarrell came to the Grand Canyon from Chickasaw National Recreation Area where he was the Supervisory Facility Operations Specialist. He had recently served as the acting Superintendent of Washita Battlefield, and had previously worked at Padre Island National Seashore and at Hot Springs National Park.
Mr. Jarrell’s experience is a large part of the reason he was chosen for the job. “Not only does Tim have extensive experience supervising maintenance divisions within parks, but he has worked on maintenance advisory committees at both regional and national levels. We believe these experiences have prepared him to keep the park’s many maintenance and improvement projects moving forward,” said Palma Wilson, Deputy Superintendent of Operations at Grand Canyon National Park.
According to Mr. Jarrell, “I took this job because I like a challenge; and Grand Canyon is on the cutting edge of what’s going on in the National Park Service. The prospect of working in a situation like that was very intriguing to me.”
Tim Jarrell, who has been in his new position since February 15, was born and raised in Hot Springs, Arkansas where he graduated from Lakeside High School. He later attended The University Texas and the University of Arkansas.
Mr. Jarrell will be joined shortly by his wife Teresa, and his three children Jared (18), Jordanne (16) and Justin (13).
