About the Residency Program

Founded in 2020, Grand Canyon Conservancy’s award-winning residency program invites artists, scientists, historians, and educators to live on-site, pursue place-based research and engage the public in meaningful programs that deepen our understanding of the rich environmental, spiritual, and cultural impact Grand Canyon has on the world.

Grand Canyon Conservancy’s Residency Program focuses on creative interpretation and resource education through three residency tracks:

  • Artist in Residence: For contemporary artists who make interactive (immersive and/or participatory) work that shapes how people experience place.
  • Astronomer in Residence: For astronomers from any discipline who wish to share their knowledge and enthusiasm for dark skies.
  • Environmental Educator in Residence: For educators who use unique and inspiring methods to pique curiosity, prompt exploration, and develop knowledge of the world around us.

Residents are selected through a competitive application process and peer panel review. Each receives free accommodation, financial support, and marketing exposure. Alumni are given opportunities to stay involved in the program, return to the park, and become part of a nationwide network of alumni.

Applications for 2027 residencies will open in May 2026.

More information on these programs and how to apply can be found on Grand Canyon Conservancy's website here.
