Restoration Projects and UpdatesOngoing Restoration ProjectsThe National Park Service’s Incident Management Team has announced tentative dates for restoring water service to South Rim residences and concessionaires. Based on current construction schedules, the Incident Management Team projects that pumping could begin from the Bright Angel Creek intake to the new water treatment plant by Nov. 16, with water distribution to residents potentially beginning by Thanksgiving. These dates are estimates and may change as construction progresses. Once pumping begins, it will take approximately 45 days to fully refill the park’s water storage tanks. The park is also working to finalize an agreement to haul approximately 200,000 gallons of water per day to the South Rim. If finalized, this would help stabilize water storage levels while repairs continue.
