Marin Headlands- Fort Baker Transportation Management Plan

GGNRA is currently planning for the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Marin Headlands / Fort Baker Transportation Infrastructure and Management Plan. Preparation of a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) is underway and is expected to be released to the public in mid-April 2007. Click here to read the DEIS when it is When available for review, the DEIS will be posted on the NPS Planning, Environment, and Public Comment website (PEPC).

The project would provide greater access to and within the Marin Headlands and Fort Baker for a variety of users in a way that minimizes impacts to the rich natural diversity and cultural resources of the Marin Headlands and Fort Baker. The project includes:

  • Roadway infrastructure would be rehabilitated or reconstructed with non-character altering roadway widening
  • Parking facilities would be improved.
  • Additional transit options would be provided to and within the Marin Headlands and Fort Baker
  • Pedestrian and bicycle facilities would be improved through closure and rerouting of existing trails and construction of new trails.
