A Federal Highway Administration project to repair and improve the Baker-Barry Tunnel will impact traffic flow to the Marin Headlands. The tunnel will close for a preservation project, routing all headlands traffice on Conzelman Road.
For public safety, the parking area at Battery Spencer as well as the vehicle pull-out areas east of the McCollough Road traffic circle will be closed in order to maintain a safe flow of traffic.
Battery Spencer remains open to hikers and cyclists.
The project is scheduled to begin Jan 9, 2017 and last through early May 2017.
GGNRA has created a website to provide the latest information of the tunnel project, including alternative traffic patterns, detours, and more.
