Entrance Fees:

The overlook pavilion and visitor center is located west of, and across Riverside Drive from the Mausoleum. The overlook provides seasonal views of the Hudson River. Stairs and ADA accessible ramps lead down below the overlook to the visitor center entrance. The visitor center features restrooms, a bookstore, exhibits. A 20-minute film about Ulysses S Grant is also availble.

Tips for Visiting the Memorial

  • General Grant National Memorial is open year-round and is located in Manhattan's Morningside Heights district, a short walk from the 125th or 116th street MTA station on the 1 train.
  • The Memorial is open Wednesday to Sunday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in the visitor center, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm in the Mausoleum (tomb)
  • You are invited to visit both the Mausoleum and the accompanying visitor center. The Mausoleum offers a space to experience impressive architecture in a reflective space to remember Ulysses S. Grant and Julia D. Grant in their final resting place. The visitor center, located accross Riverside Drive from the Mausoleum, offers exhibits, a 20-minute park film, passport to your national parks stamp, restrooms, and a bookstore to learn more about the life and legacy of Ulysses S. Grant.
  • Junior Ranger Programs are available for the kids. Junior Ranger activity books can be picked up at either the visitor center or the Mausoleum.
  • Ranger guided walking tours may be available during your visit, ask a ranger or volunteer for the day's offerings.
  • Admission is FREE, there are no entrance fees at General Grant National Memorial
  • Combine your visit to the Memorial with other nearby National Park sites like Hamilton Grange and Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace (Please see National Parks of New York Harbor for a complete listing of all National Park sites in the New York City area)
