New Law Enforcement Ranger Starting in April

Jordan Keiffer will be joining the park's Visitor and Resource Protection Division on April 24th. Jordan completed his bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice at Temple University and is a graduate of the NPS and Temple's ProRanger Program, where he completed two summer internships at Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

After attending the Seasonal Law Enforcement Training Program at Temple in 2014, Jordan got his first permanent law enforcement position at Harpers Ferry National Historical Park where he enjoyed learning about and protecting the park's Civil War resources, Armory and Arsenal history, hiking the many steep trails including the Appalachian Trail, and biking and running on the C&O Canal. Following his Federal Law Enforcement Training, Jordan and his wife Sara moved back home to Philadelphia for transfer to Independence National Historical Park where he has been for the last four years.Throughout his time at Independence National Historical Park, Jordan was often sent down to First State National Historical Park to patrol the Brandywine Valley, investigate incidents and participate in some of the park's bigger events, including the steeplechase and 5K runs.

Jordan is excited to explore the Brandywine Valley trails, work with the park's partners and volunteers, while learning about the historical themes interpreted at the park's five partner sites. In his off time, Jordan enjoys running, biking and crabbing on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. He also photographs, researches and writes about "ghost signs", which are old, faded business and advertisement signs found throughout Philadelphia and the country. He's a big Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan and is always eager to discuss, and often defend, his home teams. His dog, Blue, is also eager to meet the staff at First State National Historical Park.

We are pleased to welcome Jordan to our First State Team.
