First Fort and Arsenal Tours - September 19, 2015

Watrous, NM:  Travel across the Santa Fe Trail and discover where Fort Union's history began, as Fort Union National Monument invites you to join our Annual First Fort and Arsenal Tours on Saturday September 19, 2015. The First Fort and Arsenal sites are only open to the public once a year, and allows for visitors to not only discover the origins of Fort Union, but also the history of the fort's arsenal which kept much of the U.S. Army in the west supplied with weapons and munitions. Both sites would be critical in helping to establish the United States in the southwest as conflicts continued to rise during the "Indian Wars" of the 19th Century.

Join a Ranger led tour through the ruins of the Arsenal and First Fort, with tour times at 9:00am, 1:00am, 1:00pm, and 3:00pm. Visitors are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes prior to the tour at the visitor center.
