Living history demonstrators in period dress will portray life at Fort Moultrie in the years immediately after the American Civil War through living history programs, musket and cannon drills, and flag raising ceremonies. While the Civil War era has been well studied, the time right after the war is often overlooked. As families rebuilt their lives, and as the country integrated 4 million freed enslaved African Americans, United States’ soldiers rebuilt coastal forts for continued use for defending the coastline from foreign invasion. The schedule will be the same each day. Dress Parade
