SAVANNAH, GA –The National Park Service is pleased to announce the availability of the Wetlands Statement of Findings (WSOF) for the Georgia Power Company’s (GPC) transmission structure replacement project.
A WSOF was prepared by GPC for the replacement of seven transmission structures within the boundary of Fort Pulaski National Monument at the Bull River and Lazaretto Creek crossings. In the WSOF, several alternatives were analyzed, and Alternative B, Wetland Minimization, was identified as the Preferred Alternative. This WSOF was prepared to provide the analysis regarding the reasonable and feasible alternatives and their impacts to wetlands.
The WSOF will be available on the National Park Service’s Planning, Environment, and Public Comment website http://parkplanning.nps.gov. Under “Documents by Park” click on “Fort Pulaski NM” and follow the link to “GPC Tybee Transmission Line Structure Replacement.” Copies of the WSOF are also available at the Fort Pulaski National Monument Visitor Center located off of Highway 80, approximately 15 miles
south of Savannah. Directions to the park are available online (www.nps.gov/fopu) or by phone (912-786- 5787). The comment period is open from July 22, 2019 to August 21, 2019.
