SAVANNAH, GA – On Sunday, October 15, 2023, Fort Pulaski National Monument will celebrate its establishment as a unit of the National Park Service 99 years ago. President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed Fort Pulaski a National Monument by executive order on October 15, 1924. Entrance fees for the park will be suspended for the day.   

To celebrate, the park will have several birthday activities including fort cannon firings, fort tours, and other special programs. Activities are scheduled from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM. The fort will be open from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM with the park grounds and gates closed at 5:00 PM.

After the 11:00 a.m. cannon firing, join us as we unveil the special centennial logo the Park will use throughout the 100th anniversary of the National Monument in 2024. We’ll also have some birthday cupcakes provided by the Friends of the Cockspur Island Lighthouse.
