The Hardee Hat was part of the dress uniform and would be worn during military exercises on the parade ground. The enlisted men also wore their dress uniform when collecting their pay each month. This looks like the hats worn by the 3rd Company C, U.S. Infantry.
The blue wool trousers were part of the both field and dress uniforms.
These weapons were converted from black powder muzzle loaders to breach loaders.
A haversack was used to carry food when the soldiers were out on escort duty.
