Circle of Fire August 8th, 9th, 10th.

It is 1865, and battles have broken out in the West. The Fort will be alive with soldiers getting ready for action. See the military encampment busy all weekend with camp life, drills, and cooking. There will be lantern tours on the evening of Saturday, August 10th at 7:30pm. Different scenes will depict the challenges faced during the peak of the Indian Wars and the historic buildings will be filled with the flickering lights once again. Free Admission to all programs!

Programs will include weapon demonstrations, soldier drills, cooking demonstrations, living historians throughout the park, and more!

Saturday August 9th at 11:00am and 1:00pm

On Saturday, August 9th, Fort Laramie has the honor of welcoming Dr. Martha A. Sandweiss for two presentations. The first presentation will be at 11:00am at the park and will cover the history of photography of the West. At 1:00pm she will present on her new book The Girl in the Middle: A Recovered History of the American West. Following each program, visitors will have the opportunity to meet and greet Dr. Sandweiss and there will be book signings.

Astronomy Night at Fort Laramie at 7:30pm

Bring your telescope or use one of ours to explore the night sky and learn about the amazing universe we live in. Join rangers and our special guest speaker as they teach about the night sky, from both a modern and historical perspective. Be sure to bring your red-light flashlight and sense of wonder!
