Tuesday, July 10, 2007 through Wednesday, July 11 the Bloody Marsh unit of Fort Frederica National Monument, located off of Demere Road on St. Simons Island, will be closed for road surface maintenance.  Bloody Marsh will re-open on Thursday, July 12. This road work will maintain the road/parking lot in acceptable condition for park visitors until funding is available/expected within the next 5 years to resurface the asphalt roadbed.

Although the Bloody Marsh unit will be closed temporarily, the main unit of Fort Frederica National Monument remains open.  Come visit the park this summer and gain new appreciation for the history of coastal Georgia.  Programs are offered daily at 11 am and 2 pm.  The entrance fee is $3/person age 16 and older.  The park is open every day, except Christmas, 9am – 5pm.

For additional information on the expanding number of programs at Fort Frederica or to inquire about the temporary closure of Bloody Marsh please contact the park Visitor Center at 912-638-3639.
