Wheelchairs are available at the Memorial Classroom and at the Memorial Plaza for visitors to borrow free of charge. No advance reservations required.

Visitor Center Complex

Complex includes the Visitor Center and Memorial Classroom.

Parking / Drop Off

Parking:

• 9 RV/bus spaces
• 10 accessible spaces (1 van accessible space)
• 93 regular spaces

Drop Off:

• There is a bus drop off area located to the right when entering the parking lot.
• The asphalt parking lot is level with the sidewalk, there are no physical barriers.

Restrooms

The restrooms are located at the Memorial Classroom, near the parking lot.

Men:

• A power-assist door with a push button to activate
• 3 urinals, 1 at a lower height
• 2 standard stalls
• Sinks and hand dryers
• A changing table
• Trash recepticle

 Women:

• A power-assist door with a push button to activate
• 1 accessible stall
• 5 standard stalls
• Sinks and hand dryers
• A changing table
• Trash recepticle

Family Restroom:

Open April 1^st – Octobter 31^st
Closed & available upon request between November 1^st – April 1^st
The family restroom is located around the side of the building closest to the women's restroom.

Paths

The path from the parking lot, to the Memorial Classroom, continuing to the Visitor Center and Flight Path Overlook is a wide sidewalk that is relatively flat and level throughout.

Wheelchairs

Wheelchairs are available to borrow. 

• 3 at the Visitor Center Complex near the restrooms
• No motorized wheelchairs available
• Please do not take wheelchairs on trails.

Inside the Visitor Center

Information Desk

• There are no physical barriers to enter the Visitor Center.
• There is a power-assist door with a push button to activate.
• The information desk is located to the left as you enter.
• There is a lowered section for asking questions and interacting with ranger staff.

Bookstore

• There are various items available for sale including t-shirts, hoodies, books, pins, and other collectibles.
• Staff at the information desk can assist with reaching items on higher shelves.

Inside the Memorial Classroom

The Memorial Classroom is typically closed and only open for school groups and special events.

• There are no physical barriers to entering the Memorial Clasroom.
• There is a push button to open the store front-style sliding doors when the building is open to the public.
• There are two restrooms available inside when the building is open.

Area Map

Just outside the restrooms and learning center there is a large bronze tactile map of Flight 93 National Memorial.

• This map is approximately 5 feet by 5 feet wide and can be approached on all four sides.
• Height of the map is overall 32 inches tall.
• There are tactile labels and braille for the different parts of the memorial.

Exhibits

Inside the Visitor Center

• There are rows of exhibits on the events of September 11^th with videos, audio recordings, various tactile models, including the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and Flight 93 seating chart.
• There is room to navigate around all of the exhibits though the visitor center is often very busy and crowded with people.

Picnic Area

There are six picnic tables on the lawn near oversized vehicle parking.

• There is no change in level between the parking lot, the sidewalk, and the nearby lawn, but the lawn may be uneven in spots or difficult to navigate in a wheelchair.
• 2 picnic tables are extended for wheelchairs.

 

Memorial Plaza

Plaza includes the Visitor Shelter and the Wall of Names.

Parking / Drop Off:

Parking

• 7 accessible spaces (1 van-accessible space)
• 8 RV/bus spaces
• 74 regular spaces

Drop Off

• Drop off area for busses and other large vehicles is located in front of the restrooms after circling around the parking lot.
• The sidewalk is level with the asphalt parking lot, there are no physical barriers.

Restrooms

There are 5 single-user, vault toilets in a building next to the parking lot. Each restroom has:

• Manual, heavy door
• Grab bars on the rear and side walls next to each toilet
• A small trash bin
• A changing table in 2 stalls
• No running water

Paths

The path from the parking area to the Visitor Shelter and the Wall of Names is a wide sidewalk that is flat and level.

Inside the Visitor Shelter

There is a small building located at the Memorial Plaza.

• This is used as shelter from the elements.
• There is a power-assist door with a push button to activate.
• There are no physical barriers entering the Visitor Shelter.

Wall of Names

The Wall of Names is located at the end of the Memorial Plaza from the Visitor Shelter.

• The names of the Flight 93 passengers and crew are engraved into upright marble panels and can be touched.
• The level, black granite path adjacent to the Wall of Names denotes the flight path.

Wheelchairs

Wheelchairs are available to borrow.

• 3 wheelchairs located at the Visitor Shelter between 9am-5pm.
• No motorized wheelchairs are available.
• Please do not take wheelchairs on trails.

 

Tower of Voices

Located at the entrance of the memorial, the Tower is a ninety-three feet tall musical instrument holding forty wind chimes, representing the forty passengers and crew members.

• Drop off area for busses and other large vehicles is located to the right when entering the parking lot.
• The sidewalk is level with the asphalt parking lot. There are no physical barriers.

Path

The path from the parking lot to the Tower of Voices is a wide sidewalk that is:

• 10 feet wide
• 540 feet long ( .10 miles)
• Average running slope: 2 degrees
• Max running slope: 4 degrees along the upper portion (approximately the last 140 feet)
• Average cross slope: 1 degree
• Max cross slope: 1 degree

Restrooms

No restrooms available at this location.

• The nearest restrooms are located at the Visitor Center Complex, near the Memorial Classroom, which is approximately a 5-minute drive.

 

Trails

There are three walking trails within the memorial.

Western Overlook Trail

The Western Overlook Trail leads from the visitor center to the Memorial Plaza near the Wall of Names.

• This trail can be accessed by parking at the Visitor Center or the Memorial Plaza.
• There are 6 resting areas with benches along the trail.
• Foot traffic only.

This path is:

• Loose crushed gravel
• 0.7 miles long
• 6 feet wide
• Average running slope: 3 degrees
• Max running slope: 4 degrees for roughly 100 feet
• Average cross slope: 1 degree
• Max cross slope: 1 degree for entire trail

Trail of Remembrance

The Trail of Remembrance starts near the Memorial Plaza and leads to site of the former Temporary Memorial.

• This trail can be accessed by parking at the Memorial Plaza.
• Can also be accessed by hiking the Allée.
• This is a one-way or "out and back" trail. 
• There are resting areas with benches along the trail.
• Foot traffic only
