SHANKSVILLE, PA– Flight 93 National Memorial continues distance learning programs for audiences around the globe. Designed for the virtual education of students and groups not physically in a classroom, distance learning allows rangers to reach audiences beyond the marble and granite at the Memorial.
Distance learning programs are now available Monday through Friday until early June and will resume mid-September. “Education of today’s youth has become more challenging due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” stated Education Specialist Gregory Zaborowski. “Creativity and being able to use technology give us the opportunity to move forward and share the story of Flight 93.”
“As we approach 20 years from September 11, it is critical for the Memorial to teach the power individuals have to make a difference,” reflected Superintendent Stephen M. Clark.
Teachers are welcome to register students and lifelong learners of all ages for the free, curriculum-based virtual programming. Presentations can be streamed to your home computer or tablet via Zoom or Microsoft Teams. ABOUT FLIGHT 93 NATIONAL MEMORIAL
On September 24, 2002, President Bush signed into law the Flight 93 National Memorial Act. The Act created a new national park unit to commemorate the passengers and crew of Flight 93 who, on September 11, 2001, courageously gave their lives thereby thwarting a planned attack on our nation’s capital. The memorial is located near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where Flight 93 crashed with the loss of its 40 passengers and crew.
