OMAHA, Neb.   Today National Park Service (NPS) Regional Director Bert Frost announced the selection of Megan Parde as the new site manager of First Ladies National Historic Site in Ohio. Parde is currently the Interpretation Program Manager at Tonto National Monument in Roosevelt, Arizona. She will assume her new role at First Ladies in July.

“I am pleased to welcome Megan as the new site manager of First Ladies National Historic Site,” said Frost. “Her collaborative approach to problem solving and ability to partner, coupled with her background in interpretation and education will be of great value to the park and surrounding community.”

Parde has 10 years of federal service with the NPS. She began her career as a Student Conservation Association intern at Big Hole National Battlefield and later became a park guide at Oregon Caves National Monument. She joined the interpretive ranger ranks at Zion National Park and also spent time serving at Yellowstone National Park, Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, and Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve. Megan also has experience working as a supervisory visitor use assistant at Yosemite National Park before jumping back into interpretation at Tonto National Monument where she currently leads that program.

"I am honored to be selected as the new site manager at First Ladies National Historic Site.” Parde said. “I am excited to collaborate with the site’s staff and partners to share the stories of these important women of America’s history."

Parde will be relocating to the area in July. Having grown up in Wisconsin, she is excited to be returning to the Midwest and participating in winter sports again. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking and traveling.
