Pa-hay-okee Overlook

The Pa-Hay-Okee Overlook and boardwalk reopened in winter 2026 following a full renovation. The improvements addressed safety, accessibility, and durability while preserving the site’s historic character. Updates included a wider boardwalk and roof for visitor comfort, a new ceiling that reflects the original 1959 design, and parking improvements to make accessible spaces easier to use.

Trail Description: A raised observation platform on this boardwalk loop provides sweeping vistas of the "river of grass."

Directions to Trail: 13 miles (21 km) from the main park entrance/ Ernest Coe Visitor Center.
