Job Title: Information Desk Assistant
Location: Park Headquarters, Homestead, FL
Project Duration: Ongoing Hours Per Week: Flexible, Mon-Fri Hours Per Month: Flexible
Description of Duties: The park information desk is often the first point of contact for people wanting to visit Everglades National Park. Volunteers provide information and assistance at park’s main reception desk, mail out park information packets, and answer phone inquiries concerning park recreational activities and natural resources.
Benefits: Volunteers will have the opportunity to talk with people from all over the world. Volunteers will hone their reception skills as well as working on public relations. In addition, volunteers will learn about many aspects of the park’s natural and cultural resources. A uniform will be provided.
Goal/Outcome of Position: To provide assistance and park information to a greater number of park visitors, thereby facilitating trip planning and greater visitor enjoyment of the park.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience Desired: Enjoy working with the public. Have knowledge of or willingness to learn about park natural and cultural resources. Have ability to communicate effectively with people of all ages. Be able to remain calm and courteous during occasional hectic situations.
