Location: 17 miles SW of Grants, NM 
Cause: Under Investigation    
Percent Contained: 95% 
Date Reported:  June 9, 2022   
Size: Estimated 939 acres (No Change)   
Fuel: Mixed conifer with Timber Litter, Beetle killed timber  

Ground resources today composed of hand crews and engines continued securing lines on all flanks of the fire and searching for any “hotspots.” 

The fire area has been reopened for property owners to return to their homes, we remind members of the public that the roads in the immediate fire area remain closed to the general public. Please respect road closures that are blocked with cones or barricades. Traffic on closed roads creates safety hazards for firefighters and emergency vehicles.

  • Do not fly drones over the fire. If you fly, we can't.

  • Firefighting resources are extremely limited. It is critically important that we all do our part to prevent additional fire starts by following all campfire restrictions and fire-related closures.
