The Cerro Bandera fire was transitioned to the Albuquerque Zone Type 3 Incident Management Team (IMT) on June 11, 2022, at 6:00 am. All forward progress of fire growth has been stopped, and ground resources today composed of hand crews, engines, and heavy equipment were securing lines on all flanks of the fire. Crews spent the remainder of the day on securing and searching for any “hotspots.” The fire received several minutes of wetting rain yesterday and that had significantly aided in containment efforts. Crews tomorrow will continue to work on hot spots on all flanks of the fire.
Additional Fire Information and Links:
- Do not fly drones over the fire. If you fly, we can't.
- Roads in the immediate fire area remain closed to the public. Please respect road closures that are blocked with cones or barricades. Traffic on closed roads creates safety hazards for firefighters and emergency vehicles.
- Firefighting resources are extremely limited. It is critically important that we all do our part to prevent additional fire starts by following all campfire restrictions and fire-related closures.
Please call 911 to report a wildfire.
