The Denali Park Road has closed for the winter at Mile 3 (Park Headquarters). The winter trailhead has been established at the headquarters gate, and parking for visitors is available in the adjacent lot. There is snow and ice on the road beyond park headquarters, but snow cover is marginal for winter recreational activities such as snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, mushing or ski-joring at this time.

The Murie Science and Learning Center (MSLC) located at Mile 1.3 on the Park Road is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. as the winter visitor center. Park rangers are on hand to provide updated park information and backcountry permits. The park is a designated federal fee area and entrance fees are collected at the MSLC during the winter.

The Riley Creek Campground is open year-round, but has no utilities from mid-September until mid to late May. A vault toilet is provided for campers in the “Bear” loop that remains open, and water can be obtained at the MSLC. There is no fee for camping during the winter.

Gas, food service and lodging are available year-round in the communities of Healy and Cantwell.

For additional park information call (907) 683-2294 from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. daily or visit the website at www.nps.gov/dena.
