Medical Event Near High Camp on Mt. McKinley

A climber experienced a medical event during a descent from the summit of Mt. McKinley at 18,700-feet around midnight on Sunday. The climber’s mountain guides alerted the National Park Service of the incident, and it remains under investigation. Recovery efforts are ongoing. 

The National Park Service does not release information about fatality victims until 72 hours after next-of-kin notification has been completed.  

The immediate family members of the affected climbers have been contacted.   

No additional information is available at this time.
