The 2025 construction season was filled with accomplishments, most notably the succesful launch of the bridge into place where it now spans the landslide.
We are on schedule for a midsummer 2026 project completion, which will allow the remainder of that season to be used for work on any necessary repairs to the western half of the Park Road and deferred maintenance of west district facilities. We expect the full length of the road to be open and all bus services to resume in 2027.
Below are several highlights from this past summer's work. You can also read back through older blog posts for more details. Regular updates will return in the spring when the final season of construction work resumes.
- The remaining 10 bays of the permanent bridge structure were assembled on the east side of the slide.
- A temporary launching nose was installed within the permanent bridge structure.
- Successfully launched the temporary nose across the slide to the west abutment.
- Used the launching nose to pull the permanent bridge structure into its final location, spanning the Pretty Rocks landslide.
- 23 thermosiphon evaporators and condensers were installed in the ground near the east end of the bridge.
- Concrete wingwalls were installed and back filled on the east end of the bridge.
- Nine bridge deck panels and the adjacent guard rails were installed on the bridge.
