Across Craters of the Moon, wildflowers can be found bringing color to a rugged landscape. From cracks in lava to slopes of loose cinders, many species of showy flowers thrive.

Wondering what is blooming?

These plants are are now in bloom across the monument. Keep an eye out as you drive the loop road or hike one of the trails.
 
Dozens of umbrella-shaped clusters composed of small yellow flowers rise from fern-like foliage. The entire plant emerges from the cracks between lava rock.

Desert Parsley (Cymopterus terebinthinus)

Status: Blooming

Why it's cool: Desert parsley is also known as turpentine parsley becasue its foliage has an anise-like smell.

Desert parsley is a low-growing perennial plant that has yellow flowers arranged in umbrella-like clusters.
