Artist in Residence Application Information

2023 Centennial Artist-in-Residence Application

This year, we want to develop collaborative relationships with artists over the next year or longer who have connections to the park. The artistic projects should relate to Craters of the Moon's 2024 centennial and help the park and its partners in the commemorations. Preference selection will be given to artists within regional area and who can travel to the park for the Centennial Year (2024). Limited funding may be available to reimburse travel expenses including mileage, airfare, and lodging. Artist-in-Residence (AiR) Roles Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • At least one demonstration or program for the public on their medium, preferably during our 2024 centennial.
  • At least one work of art or project (or high-resolution preferred) donated to the park.
  • Artists in the visual arts such as painting, drawing, writing, poetry, music sculptures, crafts and other mediums will be considered.
  • Preference will be given to AiR candidates who can collaborate with the park through the 2024 centennial, but this is flexible.
  • Limited supply funds will be available to selected artists.

How to Apply

Applications are accepted by email throughout the year but submissions for the coming season are due by March 31, 2023. Please include the following:

  • Copy and paste the following form into an email or word document along with a brief resume.
  • A maximum of five artwork samples may be attached/included as a PDF. The portfolio should compile 5 images/examples of previous original graphic design projects that exemplify your work. We suggest taking screenshots of your work, collecting any links to your web-based projects (if applicable), and compiling them into a PDF document. If more than five are submitted, only the first five will be considered. Do not send originals; samples will not be returned.
  • Special consideration will go towards AiR applicants who produce digital media or digital content.

*Please note that in-park housing is not available for the summer of 2023. Partial reimbursement for lodging may be available.
